Mildred Ida Simmons
Mildred Ida Simmons, 87, of Bethalto, passed away at 8:56 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at her home in Bethalto.
She was born April 16, 1927, in Omphgent Township in Madison County, the daughter of Henry and Alma (Hillebrand) Zinschlag.
She married Herbert C. Simmons on Aug. 15, 1953, and he preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1974.
Mildred is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Harvey and JoJo Zinschlag of Kokomo, Ind.; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Carl Hill of Harlingen, Texas; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Phillip and Rhonda Simmons of Mount Vernon and Don and Sharon Simmons of Niceville, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Violet Zinschlag of Prairietown; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Wilder and Gloria Mae Zinschlag; one brother, Walter W. Zinschlag; a stepson, Herbert “Gary” Simmons; and a special friend, Richard Blotevogel.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto with Pastor Mark Hofferber officiating.
Burial will follow at Prairietown Cemetery.
