Mildred M. Nagel, 80, of Granite City, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Granite Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City.
She was born June 12, 1934, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Alfred and Mildred (Petermeyer) Nagel.
Mildred had worked as a secretary and was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she had served as a Lector and Eucharistic minister. She was an associate of the Adorer’s Precious Blood Sisters in Ruma, Ill., and was a member of Faith in Action and had served as a volunteer with Gateway Regional Medical Center and with the Senior Olympics. She had a special love of sports and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with family and friends.
She is survived by three sisters, Ruth Nagel of Wylie, Texas, Mary Ellen Warren of Mount Juliet, Tenn., and Hattie Lance of Collinsville; nieces and nephews, Terri, Pattie, Timothy, Tony, Tommy, Kathy and Debbie; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2606 Washington Ave. in Granite City, on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Father Jeff Holtmann as celebrant. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
