Molly Ann Valencia, 68, of Granite City, passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville.
She was born Dec. 18, 1947, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Manuel R. and Mollie M. (Fernandez) Valencia. Molly was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Blues. She retired in 2006 from Anheuser Busch in St. Louis after 28 years of dedicated service as a beer brewer. She had a special love for animals and cherished her dogs, Kato and Max. She enjoyed her days of traveling, playing softball, folk “fiesta” dancing and swing dancing and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by six brothers and two sisters, Rufus (Shirley) Valencia of Granite City, Donald (Sue) Valencia of Missouri, Terry (Sandra) Valencia of Granite City, Stanley (Eileen) Valencia of Granite City, Mary (Don) Lowe of Granite City, Sally (Frank) Stevens of Granite City, Joey Valencia of Granite City and Billy Valencia of Granite City; sister-in-laws, Binnie Valencia of Glen Carbon and Kay Valencia of Granite City; many nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; other extended family and many friends.
In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded by four brothers, Manuel R. Valencia, Albert Valencia, Roy Valencia and Michael Valencia.
In celebration of her life, memorial visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. A family graveside service will be held at a later date at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
