Nancy Jane “Grammy” Colbert, 83, of Granite City, formerly of St. Louis, passed away Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Whiting, Ind., the daughter to Wendell M. and Nina J. (nee: Luger) Hartsell.
Nancy had been an active member and former secretary of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Louis, former journalist for The National Horseman magazine, a world traveler following the U.S. Figure Skating team with close friends including
Russell Torino. She had a career at IBM starting as a secretary and rising to communications manager at IBM National Headquarters in Georgia. Nancy was a lover of all animals great and small.
She is survived by her son, Robert G. (Johann) Warsing; grandson, William D. (Jodie) Warsing; granddaughters, Amelia Warsing, Shelby Warsing and Rachel (Ron) Estes; great-grandchildren, Bailee A. Warsing, Logan D. Warsing, Connor R. C. Warsing, Benjamin Hurley and Jacob Howard; sister, Nina Elizabeth Robinson; sister-in-law, Ruth Hartsell; nephew, Kenneth Hartsell II; nieces, Arianne (Jeffrey) Hartsell-Gundy, Katherine (Michael) Smit; great-niece, Atherton Smit; and Benjamin the Cat (best furry friend).
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ken Hartsell.
