Naomi Ruth Von Nida, 84, of Granite City, died on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, in St. Louis.
She was born on April 20, 1930, in St. Louis, the daughter to Joseph Alexander Smith and Laura (nee: Hayes) Blankenship.
Naomi was married to the late Jack Cordell and the late John Von Nida.
She was a school bus driver and a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints.
Naomi is survived by two sons, Mark Scott and Tammy Cordell of Granite City and Kelly Glen and Christina Cordell of St. Louis; one half-brother, Byron McNew of Greenville; two half-sisters, Sandra Cooley of Mount Olive and Shera Swekoski of Hendersonville, N.C.; and 40 grand and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husbands, Naomi was preceded in death by two daughters, Diana Marie Davis and Laura Sue Furman; seven brothers, James Travis Smith, Gary Glen Smith, Larry McNew, Lance McNew, Barry McNew and twins, Ronald and Donald Smith; and one sister, Beverly Thurman.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Wojstrom Funeral Home and Crematory in Granite City. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of memorials, Naomi requested that you take someone out to eat.
