Nora Catherine Saylor, 89, formerly of Wood River, passed away at 1:22 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at her residence.
Born May 22, 1926, she was the daughter of Larry and Mai Louella (Bloomer) Morgan.
A homemaker, she had been a member of VFW Post 2859 Ladies Auxiliary; and she enjoyed, fishing, camping, travel and bingo.
She married Royal Saylor, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are her longtime companion, Corbet Leon Wallace of Granite City; daughter, Mami Anderson of Alton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; longtime caregiver, Sylvia Travis; stepson, Rick Wallace; and dear friend, Evon Whitford.
Preceding in death were her parents; husband; three sons, Gerald H. Dowdy, Joseph Henry “Jody” Dowdy and John Edward Dowdy; and daughter, Nora Faulkner.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2015. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
