Norma Jean Harris, 83, of Granite City, passed away on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on Sept. 29, 1932, in St. John’s, a daughter of the late George and Mildred (Forsythe) Greenwell.
Norma was a lifelong mom who dedicated her life to raising her family. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and tending to her roses. She will be remembered for the love of her family and all the special times they shared together.
She is survived by and will be missed by her children, Valerie and (Charles) Toth of St. Jacob, Patricia Mathis of Granite City, Vickie and (James) Sago of Granite City, Linda and (Robert) Fleming of Granite City, Barb and (James) Young of Springfield, Ohio, Robert D. Jones Jr. of East Alton, Connie and (Tom) Campbell of Granite City, Chris and (James) Dasch of Lenzburg, Tim and (Tina) Jones of Granite City, Tina and (Kevin) Beavin of Granite City, and Scott and (Kim) Harris of Granite City; 30 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Harris, whom she married on July 2, 1966.
Friends may call on Monday, October 26, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of her life, services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Clint Wisdom officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
