Opal Holder, 86, of Granite City, passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 25, 1929, in Greenville, Mo., a daughter to the late James and Lulu Wood.
Opal worked as an assembler at Emerson Electric in St. Louis for many years and was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Granite City. She will be remembered for her kind heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by and will be missed by her husband, Robert Holder, whom she married on May 29, 1971; her daughters, Connie and (Jeff) Chapin of St. Louis, and Joyce and (Rocky) White of Shawnee, Kan.; her son, Jim and (Theresa) Murray of Ottumwa, Iowa; grandchildren, Josh Murray, Ryan White and Brandon White; and great-grandson, Lawson White.
In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her son, Bert Murray.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of her life services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at the funeral home with Brandon White officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
