Patricia “Pat” Elaine Gregory, 67, of Bethalto, passed away at 3:56 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, in East Alton.
She was born Aug. 19, 1949, a daughter of the late Cecil Dent and Aura “Marie” Rodgers.
Pat was a 1967 graduate of Wood River High School and proudly served her country in the United States Army for four years. She received her Bachelors degree in education, specializing in physical education and health, from the Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark. She had taught and coached girls’ basketball and cheerleading in Hampton, Ark., for several years. She later attended nursing school, receiving her LPN degree, and continued serving others as a nurse for more than 25 years, retiring in 2013. Pat loved her days of playing softball, fishing, finding a good yard sale and taking time to drink some coffee and chat with others. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by her three children, Melanie (Edwin) Wade of Cottage Hills, Mallory (Alex Baldwin) Gregory of Bethalto and Sean (Monica) Gregory of Alton; nine grandchildren, Morgan, Quentin, Madison, Savannah, Noah, Damion, Liam, Benjamin and Ezra; one sister, Linda Yarborough of East Alton; five brothers, Donald (Bobby) Rodgers of Clinton, Ill., Barrett (Mary) Rodgers of Iverness, Fla., Cecil Rodgers of Brunswick, Maine, Doug (Diane) Rodgers of Lompoc, Calif., and Michael (Alan Roth) Rodgers of Washington, D.C.; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and many special friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation was Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at River of Life Family Church, 3401 Fosterburg Road in Alton. Visitation will continue at the church from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, with Pastor Duane Vancil officiating.
