Paul Raymond Barker, 77, of Roxana, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 21, 1936, in Alton, the son to the late George William and Susie Lucille (Jones) Barker.
On Sept. 20, 1955, he and Lois W. McKinney were married in East Alton, and she survives in Roxana.
Paul retired from Olin in 1999 after 26 years of service as a firefighter. He also served the Roxana community as a firefighter for more than 20 years, attaining the rank of assistant chief. He was a member of the Madison County Firefighters Association.
In addition to his wife of almost 59 years, he is survived by a son, David (Maggie) Barker of East Alton; two daughters, Diana (Rev. Randy) Bryant and Robin (Steve) Faison, both of Vero Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Paul, Rachel, Emily, Abigail and Michael; two great-grandchildren, Lily and Daisy; a sister, Mary Ann Landreth of Bunker Hill; and three brothers, John (Ann) Barker of Brighton, Dale Barker of Alton and Butch (Viola) Barker of Brighton.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ed, Bill and Bob Barker.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Peace Freewill Baptist Church in Pontoon Beach with the Rev. Randy Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Madison County Firefighters Scholarship Fund, which Paul was proud to have helped established.
