Paul Weldon Tinnon, 82, of Granite City, passed away at 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
He was born on Sept. 18, 1933, in Piggott, Ark., the son of the late Cecil S. Tinnon and Cora Busby.
He married Peggy F. Jones Tinnon on Aug. 18, 1953, in Caruthersville, Mo. She survives.
Paul worked as a custodial engineer for Edwardsville Montessori School for 17 years and T.I.M.E. D.C. Trucking Service Maintenance man for 17 years. He was a member of Mount Zion General Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 877 and Teamsters Local 618.
Also surviving are his children, Paul Nathan Tinnon (Karen Johnson) of Granite City, Cecil Tinnon (Jaquline Aman) of O’Fallon, Mo., Vanessa (John) Leonard of Germantown; brother, Carl Tinnon of Muncie, Ind.; grandchildren, John Weldon Tinnon, Ginger Ann Tinnon, Paul Jason Tinnon, Dustin Ray Tinnon, Nathan Jeffrey Tinnon, Nicholas Scott Tinnon, Cole Edward Leonard and Nicole Marie Leonard; great-grandchildren, Morgan Tinnon and Katelyn Tinnon; and nieces and nephews.
He had too may friends to mention, touched and inspired many lives not only with his music but with the values of his character and the wisdom he displayed daily.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Weldon Melbird Tinnon; sisters, Lorine McGaig and Nina Mae Freeman; and brother, Ben Tinnon.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home in Granite City.
Funeral services will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home in Granite City with the Rev. Steve Gray and the Rev. Clint Bremen officiating.
Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.
