Raymond V. Wallace, 86, of Fidelity, died at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at his home. He was born in Grafton on Oct. 1, 1929, the son to the late Raymond E. and Lena (Allen) Wallace.
Raymond grew up on a farm in Grafton and attended schools in Jersey County, graduating from Jerseyville High School.
He married Wanda L. (Cunningham) Wallace on Oct. 30, 1956, in Jerseyville. She died May 11, 2003.
Raymond first worked for Sears Roebuck in Alton until the store closed. He then worked as a mechanic for C&W (Noble) John Deere for 30 years. In addition, Raymond served his community as a Fidelity Board Member, Mayor and Town Marshal. He served in the United States Army, serving in Japan and Korea, where he was wounded in Kumwea, South Korea.
Raymond was a member of the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492.
Survivors include four daughters, Valda Jennings of Jerseyville, Rose Pruitt of Jerseyville, Kay Roberta White of Godfrey and Patti Wallace of Fidelity; four sons and daughter-in-law; Randy Wallace of Alton, Billy Joe Wallace of Medora, Dennis Wallace of Fidelity, Butch Wallace of Jerseyville, and Dale and Patty Wallace of Jerseyville; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Wallace of Godfrey; one brother-in-law, Keith Ridenour of Godfrey; one brother and sister-in-law; Vernon and Betty Wallace of Alton.
Preceded in death by his wife, parents, one sister, Vivian Ridenour; one son-in-law, Ralph Jennings; one grandson, Scott Johnson; one great-grandson; William Wallace; and one great-granddaughter, Nikki Jennings.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton.
Funeral Service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton.
Burial will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery.
