Richard Dawson, 76, of Granite City, passed away at 5 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Dec. 12, 1938, in Darlington, Md., a son of the late Charlie and May (Stearns) Dawson.
He had worked for Erman-Howell Division in Kansas City, Kan., as a railroad supervisor. He enjoyed his days of fishing and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. He is survived by his former wife and lifelong friend, Laverne (Taylor) Dawson of Granite City; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Jada Dawson of Collinsville, Darin and Beverly Dawson of Highland and Ronnie Wallace of Granite City; a daughter, Rebecca Thompson; four grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many brothers and sisters; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, a memorial visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Irwin Chapel Funeral Home, 3960 Maryville Road Granite City, with the Rev.
