Richard Eugene Sullivan Sr., 95, of Fairmont City, passed away at 3:38 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at his residence.
Born on Feb. 18, 1920, in Carrollton, he was the son of Alonzo and Myrtle (Milner) Sullivan.
A World War II Army veteran, he was an inspector for Cerro Copper and Brass in Sauget for 37 years before retiring in 1982.
On May 31, 1944, in East St. Louis, he married the former Hazel L. “Snookie” Berning. She died Oct. 2, 2006.
Surviving are three sons, Richard, Jr. (Joyce) Sullivan of Fairmont City, Bill (Lulu) Sullivan of Cahokia, and Wesley Sullivan of Granite City; a daughter, Vera (Charlie) Brown of Fairmont City; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; son, Dennis Sullivan; daughter, Pat Mahan; seven brothers, Leroy, Harold, Robert, Keith, Marice and Louis Sullivan; and two sisters, Mable Sullivan and Nellie Sloan.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
