Richard Lane Gann, 75, of Granite City passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 in Maryville surrounded by his family.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1939, in Lavaca, Ark., the son of the late Richard C. and Clara L. (Eubanks) Gann.
Richard Lane Gann married Shirley Mae (Hanson) Gannon March 14, 1970, in Reno, Nev.
Richard and his family spent most of their lives in Lake Nebagamon, Wis.
Everyone in the community knew him as Lane. He owned and operated the Union 76 repair shop working as a mechanic. He loved working on his race car. He could be found at the race tracks every weekend competing with his team around the local circuit from May to October. Racing was his favorite hobby until the birth of his grandchildren. At that point his passion changed from winning races to spending time with his grandkids. He was a loving husband, father, Papa and foster parent. He was cherished and will be extremely missed.
Richard is survived by one daughter and son-law, Jennifer and Aaron Reeves of Granite City; and one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Rachel Gann of Vancouver, Wash. Also surviving are additional children: Samantha Kujava of Lake Nebagamon, Wis., Chris Kujava and Rick Kujava of Superior, Wis. Richard was Papa to Abigail Mae Reeves, Drake Reeves, Bryce Gann and Kaden Kujava. Richard had four surviving sisters and two surviving brothers, Patsy Gann of Fort Smith, Ark., Ruby Hendricks of Fort Smith, Ark., Jan Nett (Larry) Barnes of Wichita, Kan., Tarica (Norman) Clark of Tulsa, Okla., Gussie (Pat) Gann of Greenwood, Ark., and Jimmy (Maggie) Gann of Barlinig, Ark.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Mae Gann; and a brother, Ronnie Gann.
