Richard R. Carper, 59, of Edwardsville passed away on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 11, 1956, in Granite City.
Richard gave more than 25 years as a manager and a server at Andria’s Steak House in O’Fallon. He enjoyed being outside riding his motorcycle or his ATV. He liked to boat, race cars and was a huge St. Louis Blues and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed the St. Louis Rams, especially when Kurt Warner was quarterback. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family just being together playing cards or board games. Richard will be remembered for his kind heart and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife, Kathryn (Widel) Carper, whom he married on Aug. 4, 1979, in Granite City; his son, Rich Carper of Edwardsville; his daughter, Michelle Carper of Edwardsville; his mom, Joyce A. “Joy” (Rogers) Hall; and sisters, Brenda Carper-McCormick of Manchester, Mo., and Gayle Harbaugh of Collinsville.
Richard was preceded in death by his dad, Richard D. Carper; and his brother, Rodger Carper.
In celebration of Richard’s life, friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, with Pastor Jeffrey Ross officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Memorials are suggested to Richard’s family.
