Richard (Ric) Dean Day, 61, formerly of Granite City, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at Whitehall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on Dec. 14, 1954, the son to Richard Day and Ruth Day (Mundy).
He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Andrew Binkley.
Richard served in the United States Marine Corps.
Surviving are two sisters, Lori Day of Granite City and Paula Binkley of Belleville; two nephews, Jesse Binkley and Devin Claypool; one niece, Baili Day-Davis; and the loving family of Whitehall Nursing and Rehab.
Richard was known for being a fun-loving guy who touched the lives of all he came to know and will be missed by many. He was also a very big Cardinal Fan. He also loved the Beatles and all kinds of music. He was a huge animal lover as well (especially his dogs).
Richard donated his remains to medical research. The family will be holding a private memorial service.
