Robert W. Godfrey, 74, of Madison, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Eden Village in Glen Carbon.
Robert was born on March 25, 1941, in Venice, a son to the late William A. and Anna May (Reed) Godfrey. Robert was a longtime welder and pipefitter working out of Carpenters Local No. 633. In his free time he enjoyed his passion of fishing. He loved to be outside where he could work in his garden or hunt and he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by and will be missed by his children; Terri Worthen of Granite City, Kim Scarborough of Granite City, Mike Godfrey of Granite City, and William and (Julie) Godfrey of Granite City; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his companion, Jacqueline Godfrey; and his sister, Rosemary Kampman.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of his life, services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Sherman Smith officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
