Roberta R. Jackson, 87, of Granite City, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Collinsville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Collinsville.
She was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Effie (Wills) Stephens. She married Claude Asberry Jackson on Sept. 12, 1947, in Sikeston, Mo., and he passed away July 31, 2011.
She retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City in 1979 after five years of dedicated service as a cook. Following her retirement, she continued as a volunteer at the hospital. She was a member of Family Worship Center in Granite City. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry Jackson of Granite City, Donald Jackson of Granite City and James and Talitha Jackson of Granite City; four grandchildren, Stacy Stacy Jackson, David Jackson, Daniel Jackson and Autumn Jackson; four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Jackson; four brothers, Charles, Clayton, Clifford and Wayne Stephens; and three sisters, Fern Finley, Daisy Mouser and Alberta Alstott.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City with the Rev. Dr. Eddy Brown officiating.
