Rodger M. Eaker, 62, of Mount Olive, passed away at 9:16 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 26, 2014 at his home.
He was born Jan. 31, 1952, in Alton, the son of Warren E. and Vivian L. (Null) Eaker.
He married Cynthia L. Tinsley on Jan. 31, 1970, in Bethalto. She preceded him in death on July 2, 1999.
Rodger was an independent carpenter all his life. He was an avid race car driver for 14 years. He was a member of I-70 QMA Race Car Track Club with his son and grandson. He enjoyed hunting, racing, fishing, walking his son’s dog and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his mother of Bethalto, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Tonia and Kent Unterbrink of Godfrey, Troy and Tammy Eaker of White City, Trisha and Mike Null of Wood River and Tammy and Josh Corrington of Cottage Hills; 15 grandchildren, Corey, Cyle, Cayla, Jacob, Lucas, Elizabeth, Sierra, Halli, Deacon, Carson, Jacob, Braden, Raegan, Blake and Brady; four great-grandchildren, Trinity, Devon, Bryce and Carissa; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Mary Ann Eaker of Bethalto; and a sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Dave Fleetwood of Bethalto.
He was preceded in death by his father, wife and an infant brother.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until services at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor the Rev. Pat Heston officiating.
Burial will be at Moro Presbyterian Cemetery in Moro.
