Rodney Eugene Perkins, 54, of Alton, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Care Center.
He was born March 17, 1961, in Lincoln, the son to William E. and Shirley (Wheatley) Perkins.
Rodney was a member of both the Heartland Baptist Church and the Worth While Sunday School Class. He has left us with a treasure of memories for his love of people (greeting all with a smile and expressive eyes) and his love for food and music. God blessed him to live 55 years and to be a colon cancer survivor for six years.
Surviving are his devoted mother, Shirley; siblings, William Perkins, Becky Fair and Brian Perkins; three nephews, Joshua, Caleb and Zachery; a niece-in-law, Laura; one close family friend, Marianne; an aunt; Barbara (Wheatley) Gothard; and family and also a host of cousins, friends, and people who have come to know and love him; especially the devoted and loving staff at the William BeDell ARC Group Home and Workshop for 20-plus years.
Rodney donated his remains to the Saint Louis University Medical Program.
His family would like to thank everyone who knew Rodney for their love and devotion to him. Memorials may be made to William BeDell ARC, and designated for the Workshop and Group Home expenses.
Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton has assisted the family with arrangements.
