Ronald Raymond Liening, 62, of Highland, passed away at 1:49 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra.
He was born on March 15, 1952, in Highland, the son of Clara Mary (Tebbe) Liening and the late Orville Bernard Liening.
Ronald married Sherry Lee (Liening) Barth on April 24, 1990. She survives.
Ronald was born in Highland and grew up in Pocahontas. He graduated Highland High School in 1971. He worked for EF Trucking, then worked for the city of Highland until 1990 in maintenance. He then worked at American Steel. He also worked partite for years as a farm hand for Eldon Grotefrendt. Ron was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2005. He was always a hard worker and enjoyed hunting, camping, horseback riding and cutting firewood. Ron was a maintenance worker for City Municipality. He was a member of Saint Gertrude Catholic Church of Grantfork and Grantfork Volunteer Fire Department-Operating Engineers Local No. 100.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry L. Weber Liening (Barth) of Highland; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara M. (Rob) Barnett of St. Peters, Mo., Christa A. (Matt) Huelskamp of Highland and Shana K. (Nathan) Knebel of Pocahontas; stepdaughter, Erin P. Weber of Highland; four grandchildren, Zachary D. Barnett of St. Peters, Mo., Samuel V. Huelskamps of Highland, Ada L. Huelskamps of Highland, and Kayelee A. Knebel of Pocahontas; three sisters, Diann C. (Louis Haas of Staunton, Margie M. Kapp of Highland and Karen V. (Bruce) Kovach of Pocahontas; mother, Clara M. (Tebbe) Liening of Pocahontas; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orville B. Liening.
A memorial funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Saint Gertrude Catholic Church in Grantfork.
Services are through Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
