Rosa Debevc, 89, of Granite City, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015, at Anderson Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born on Feb. 23, 1926, in Trbovlje, Slovenia, a daughter to the late John and Marie Androjna.
Rosa was a longtime cafeteria worker at Granite City Steel. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City; a member of the (GBU) Greater Beneficial Union Fraternal Lodge 419; the SNPJ Lodge and the Senior Circle at Gateway Regional Medical Center. Rosa will be remembered for her kind and generous heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by and will be missed by her husband, Vince Debevc Sr., whom she married on June 17, 1945; her children, Vince and (Kathy) Debevc Jr. of Granite City, Rose Mary Debevc of Granite City, and Anne and (Michael) Gibbons of Oakville, Mo.; grandchildren, Jennifer Debevc-Dutko and (Terry Dutko) of Granite City, Nick and (Tracy) Gibbons of Saginaw, Mich., Christopher Gibbons of St. Louis and David Gibbons of St. Louis; great-grandchildren, Emma Dutko, Sophie Dutko, Jack Dutko of Granite City, William Gibbons and Nathan Gibbons of Saginaw, Mich.; and nephew, Drago and (Frances) Androjna of Euclid, Ohio.
Visitation was Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Irwin Chapel in Granite City. In celebration of her life, services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, with Fr. Manuel Cuizon officiating at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2606 Washington Ave. in Granite City. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials are suggested to Holy Family Catholic School.
