Ruby M. Risner, 86, of Granite City, died at 12:37 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Stearns Nursing & Rehab in Granite City.
She was born March 13, 1929, in Stewart County, Tenn., the daughter to the late Willie Bryan and Cora Lee (Morgan) Scott.
On May 8, 1946, she and Thomas Risner were married in Pleasant Hill, Ark. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1988.
Mrs. Risner was a Certified Nursing Assistant at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1995. She had been a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra and Dr. Bill McMasters of Granite City and Debra Evans of Fairview Heights; a son, Richard Risner of O’Fallon; seven grandchildren, Tami (Dean) Mortland, Jennifer Woods, Cameron McMasters, Michael (Connie) Battoe, Patrick (Ashlynn) Battoe, Leah (Luke) Gruchala and Joseph Risner; 12 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Ryan and Ian Rozycki, Ethan McMasters, Kaden, Kelon and Makaina Woods, Christopher and Nicholas Battoe, Cayden and Gabriel Battoe and Blake Gruchala; two brothers, Daniel Scott of Paragould, Ark., and Charles (Erma) Scott of Jonesboro, Ark.; three sisters, Robbie Brien and Ann Freiner of Paragould, Ark., and Jeanette Rushing of Malden, Mo.; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Janice Risner of Cumming, Ga., as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, William “Billy” Evans; a daughter-in-law, Donna Risner; a brother, Willie Earl Scot; and two sisters, Barbara Rangel and Mary Evelyn Purzycki.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory, where services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, with Rev. Mark Powell and Dr. Bill F. McMasters officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.
