Ruth Asbeck, 95, of Granite City, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Stearns Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Granite City.
Ruth was born March 4, 1921, in St. Louis; a daughter of the late Melvin and Nellie (Howard) Jones. Ruth was a lifelong homemaker and a member of Niedringhaus United Methodist Church in Granite City. Ruth loved her family and was always helping wherever needed. She enjoyed reading, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her kind and giving heart and all the special times shared together.
She is survived by and will be missed by her sons; Ronald and (Donna) Asbeck of Granite City, Robert and (Joan) Asbeck of Granite City, Dennis Asbeck of Granite City; grandchildren, Brett Asbeck, Brian Asbeck, Kimberly Asbeck-Gindler, Becky Klenke, Angel Hovey, Heather Borg, Kerri Maggart, Sean Asbeck, Ben Asbeck and Stephen Asbeck; great-grandchildren, Jordan Asbeck, Quinn Klenke, Kirsten Gindler, Austin Hovey, Conner Klenke, Blake Klenke, Abby Hovey, Kayla Hovey, Zach Maggart, Hannah Asbeck, Braden Borg, Annie Borg, Audrey Maggart, Jerrica Asbeck, Leah Rose Asbeck, Gage Asbeck, Tatum Asbeck and Lars Gindler; and brother, Richard Jones.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Fred Asbeck, whom she married Jan. 10, 1943, and her daughter-in-law, Charlayne Asbeck.
In celebration of her life, friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016, with Pastor Sean Asbeck officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
