Ruth D. Kelly, 82, of Alton, passed away at 3:20 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Jerseyville Manor Nursing home in Jerseyville.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1932, in Portageville, Mo., daughter of the late Wm. T. and Fern (Hausner) Johnson. She was the oldest of six children.
Ruth married John “Jack” W. Kelly on Feb. 12, 1970. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2013.
She was employed at Wardein Pharmacy for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. She enjoyed crafts, painting, her pug dogs, bowling, socializing and spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. She was the best mother, mother-in-law and grandmother ever.
She is survived by two sons and their spouses, Rodney Oglesby of Bolivar, Mo., and Robert and Robyn Oglesby of Parker, Colo.; a daughter and her spouse, Shannon and Rick Stilwell of Brighton, Ill.; four granddaughters and their spouses, Rachel and David Sissel, Kasey Oglesby, Kari Oglesby and Katie and Ken Soldink; one grandson, Alex Stilwell; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Joshua, Benjamin, Emma and Samantha Sissel; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Oglesby of Bolivar, Mo.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Rex Oglesby.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton Fr. John Wykes, OMV, as celebrant.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and or the Alzheimer Association.
