Ruth May Sanders-Bettorf, 59, of Godfrey peacefully went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ Wednesday, March 2, 2016.
She was born May 13, 1956, in Gobbler, Mo., the daughter of John and Nora (Poole) Chancellor. Ruth was retired from Alton Mental Health Center. She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, family, her dog and crocheting with her aunt Betty.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Sanders of Godfrey; four grandchildren, Riley and Cavanah Lynch and Alison and Chloe Sanders; brother, Thomas Chancellor of Granite City; ex-husband and close friend William Bettorf of Godfrey; and a daughter-in-law, Meredith Gunderson of Wood River.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mitchell Sanders I; son, Mitchell Sanders II; brother, Johnny Chancellor; and sisters, Wanda Chancellor, Kathy Soliz and Elizabeth Chancellor.
Mom we were there for each other; we were a team; I love you dearly.
