Ruth Nunes, 80, of Granite City, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born on August 13, 1933 in Chapin, a daughter to the late Charles and Ruth (Theis) Hill.
On November 21, 1951, Ruth married John F. Nunes, Jr., the love of her live, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 1999.
Ruth was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She also had retired from National Foods in Granite City as the head cashier after 21 years of dedicated service. She was a life member of the Disable American Veterans Auxiliary Unite #53 and the American Legion Auxiliary in Granite City. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, who she adored. Ruth will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed and Babe Hill; sister, Donna Viera; and her grandson, Joseph Browing.
She is survived by her loving children, Janet (Steve) Moore of Mt. Olive, John (Dorothy) Nunes of Gillespie, and Karen (Carroll) Heape of Granite City; brother, Floyd (Jeannie) Hill of Picayune, MS; sister, Mary McCue of LaMirado, CA; five grandchildren, Samantha Moore, Adam Moore, Stacy (Dave) Partney, Chad (Angie) Browning and Les (Jessica) Nunes; dear nieces and nephews and friends.
Services were through Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Rd. in Granite City.
