Shane H. Laycock, 11, of Bethalto, passed away at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He was big-hearted and giving in life and with his passing has become an organ donor to help others.
He was born on Feb. 21, 2004, in Seminole, Okla., the son of Tammy (Battles) Laycock.
Shane enjoyed attending House of Victory Church, Kids Club, stuffed animals, climbing trees and playing outside, most always without wearing shoes.
Survivors include his mother of Bethalto; grandparents, Barbara Arnett and Darrell Battles of Granite City; siblings, Brandon “Bubby” Newell of Stillwater, Okla., Josh Newell and fiancée, Katie Jackson and her daughter, Emma of Cottage Hills, Caleb Newell of Bethalto, Travis Newell of Bethalto, and Wil Laycock of Bethalto; uncle, Darren Battles and his wife, Kansas; aunt, Lisa Morris of Fort Worth, Texas; great-aunt, Patty Swearingin; great-aunt, Vickie and her husband, Wendell Heindricks; great-uncle, Bob and his wife, Edna Battles; cousins, Bob and Sam Battles, Wendy and Mike Cauley, Nathan and Nolan Cauley, and Beth and Nabil Sahuri; and their children, Adam and Rainey.
He was preceded in death by his great- grandparents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at House of Victory Church in Cottage Hills with Pastor Tim Naylor officiating.
Memorials may be made to the family for a future scholarship fund.
