Shari Sue Cottrell, 47, of Granite City, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Gateway Regional Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born on Feb. 19, 1968, in Alton, a daughter to the late Elmer and Lena Mae (Joiner) Hurlbut. Shari had worked for Gateway Packaging and enjoyed fishing, horse racing and watching football. She was a lifelong wife and mother who adored her family and loved to spend time together. She will be remembered for her kind heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by and will be missed by her husband, James Cottrell, who she married on Sept. 2, 1996; her sons, Jeff Cottrell and (Nicole Anderson) of Granite City, Jacob Cottrell and (Noelle Wiesehan) of Granite City; granddaughter, Jersey Dawn Cottrell of Granite City; sister, Emma and (David) Pinkston of Granite City; brothers, Maynard and (Sheila) Hurlbut of Bethalto, Eric Hurlbut of Granite City; nieces, Stephanie Riskovsky Murphy, Jessica Riskovsky Whitehead and Amber Ronk; and nephews, Zachary Pinkston and Justin Pinkston.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of her life, services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
