Sheryl L. Horgon, 54, of Madison, formerly of Granite City, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Gateway Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 7, 1961, in St. Louis.
Sheryl was a longtime Madison County social worker with the Head Start Program and Call For Help, and then went on to work at Petri’s Café in Granite City as a cook. She will be remembered for her kind heart and unique personality and the many special times she shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by and will be missed by her husband, Robert E. Horgon of East Alton; her daughter, Amanda and (Donald) Tooley of South Roxana; her sisters, Laura Chepely of Granite City, Michelle Rains of Dover, Tenn., Teresa Politte of Granite City, and Carol Rains of Lucas, Ky.; and grandchildren, Jayden Rains, Ciara Rains and Lynlee Tooley.
In celebration of Sheryl’s life, a memorial gathering will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City with Pastor Earl Gillett officiating. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
