Shirley A. Henson, 86, of Bethalto, passed away at 5:23 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
She was born on Aug. 28, 1928, in Alton, the daughter of the late William and Edith (Barnett) Camp.
She married Wayne E. Henson on Sept. 22, 1962, in Alton. He survives.
Shirley was a secretary at Olin Corporation and then was co-owner/operator with her husband, Wayne, from 1970 to present at Camp Electric. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey, where she served as Elder. She was also Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed golfing and bowling and was involved with several leagues. Shirley most valued her family and her many friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Nancy Brown of Alton and Tim and Danette Henson of Bethalto; three grandchildren, Jim (Kristina) Brown of Glen Carbon, Chris Henson and Dan Henson, both of Bethalto; her great-granddaughter, Ava Marie Brown; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and George Smith of Fishers, Ind.; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William D. Camp.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey with Virginia Ilch officiating.
Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
