Shirley A. Heinmiller, 90, of Wood River, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at her home in Wood River.
She was born on May 5, 1924, in Floyd County, Iowa, the daughter of the late Leslie Raymond and Blanche Marie (Tolle) Rice.
She married Edward Herman Heinmiller on Dec. 31, 1943, in Austin, Minn. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1988.
Shirley was a cap operator at Olin Corporation for more than 10 years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Wood River and the Women of the Moose in Wood River. She enjoyed cooking and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and David Wallace of Wood River; two grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Lee Ann Hinthorne of Lawrenceburg, Ind., and Tara and Scott Woolverton of Hartford; five great-grandchildren, Hailee, Ashlee, Ryan D. Jr. Hinthorne, Ryan S. Jr. and Bryan “Matthew” Woolverton; two sisters and their spouses, Eunice M. Green of Mesa, Ariz., and Margaret “Meg” and Arnold “Arnie” Schwalb of Arizona and her best friend, Helen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until services at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf in Bethalto with Pastor Charles West officiating.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
