Shirley Leona Parker, 80, of Granite City, passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at Collinsville Rehab & HCC. She was born March 6, 1935 in St. Louis, the daughter to John Roy and Jan (nee: Vines) Wilson. She married Virgil W. Parker Oct. 10, 1953, in Bolivar County, Miss.; he preceded her death June 16, 1993. Shirley spent most of her years in Granite City; however, she did live in Fresno, Calif., from 1960 to 1970. She worked many jobs over the years including helping her husband in the Donut Shop that they co-owned. She was a member of New Creation Fellowship Church. Shirley loved spending time with family and friends and was an avid reader.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Glen and Jack Wilson; two sisters, Sharon Haas and Sandy Wilson; and grandson, David Clark.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda (Arthur) Billick of Madison, Vickie (Bob) Barton of Granite City, and Lisa (Rob) Clark of Granite City; three sons, John(Jackie) Parker, Gary Parker, and David (Ellen) Parker, all of Granite City; 13 grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Harper of Granite City.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of services at noon Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory in Granite City.
