Shirley M. Durborow, 83, of Granite City passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City with her family by her side.
Shirley was born on Sept. 4, 1931, in Glen Carbon, a daughter to the late Fred and Dorothy (Hickson) Trebing. Shirley was a lifelong homemaker and mom who enjoyed playing Bingo, shopping and dancing. She dedicated her life to her family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
She is survived by and will be missed by her daughters, Vickie and (Efran) Franco of Granite City, Tina and (Kevin) Kielty of Granite City, Linda and (Gary) Woods of Granite City, Susie Krause and (Von Justice) of Granite City, Shirley and (Joseph) Skiles of Missouri, Sharon Loyd of Michigan, Bonnie Dawson of San Antonio, Texas; sons, John and (Kris) Watson of Louisville, Ky., Mike Watson and (Mary) of Granite City, Rick and (Carrie) Watson of Missouri, Jerry Watson and (Sue) of Granite City; brother, Richard and (Evelyn) Trebing; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee “Pops” Durborow; her first husband, John Richard Watson; daughter, Helen Watson; and brothers, Clark Trebing and Earl Trebing.
In celebration of her life, friends may call on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Henry Crippen officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
