Shirley Mae Marshall, 88, of Alton, passed away at 7:14 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at St. Clare’s Villas in Alton.
She was born Nov. 27, 1926, in Alton, the daughter of William J. and Mae G. (Grisham) Meyer.
Shirley married James L. Marshall on March 21, 1953, in Alton and he preceded her in death on June 14, 1999.
She was a member of Sanford Avenue Baptist Church in Alton, taught Sunday school for many years and was member of the Alton Women’s Council.
Shirley is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Sharon Marshall of Alton and Paul and Lillian Marshall of Georgia; four grandchildren, Mark Marshall, Cathy Suttels, Amy Lowis and Jill Bullard; 10 great-grandchildren, Demi, Evan, Trenton, Tyler, Adam, Johnathan, Russell, Mason, Derrick and Ethan; two great-great-grandchildren; and a niece, Laura Eyer.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at Sanford Avenue Baptist Church in Alton with Pastor Daniel Bowers officiating.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton.
