Sister Charlotte Sohovich, aka Leona Dolores Sohovich, died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at St. Andrew’s at Francis Place, Eureka, Mo.
The daughter of Joseph and Anna Varga Sohovich, both natives of Czechoslovakia, she was born Sept. 13, 1912, in Livingston.
Of her seven siblings, one survives her, Udebelle Kacmar of Crown Point, Ind.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Krivi, Anna Dreyovich, Julia Kotulock and Helen Boston; and brothers, Joseph and John.
She attended school in Livingston and at Ursuline College in New Orleans, La. Her Bachelor of Science degree is from DePaul University and her Master of Education degree is from Saint Louis University. She entered the Ursulines in Alton in January of 1929 and made vows in July of 1931.
Her years of service as a superb elementary school teacher took her to New Orleans, Alton, Springfield, Oak Park, Staunton, Wood River and Collinsville; to Kirkwood, Bonne Terre, Arcadia and Wellston, Mo.; and to Toronto, Ohio.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at St. Ambrose Church, 820 W. Homer Adams Parkway, Godfrey. Visitation will precede this Mass beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. Steve Pohlman will preside.
