Steven R. Atteberry, 68, of Maryville passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, in Glen Carbon.
Steven was born May 29, 1947, in Evansville, Ind.; a son of the late Otis and Bernice (Nottingham) Atteberry. Steven gave more than 45 years to Boeing retiring as a senior electrical engineer. He was a former member of Grace Baptist Church in Granite City, where he served as a deacon and a youth volunteer. He gave countless hours to Story Link Prison Ministry and was a member of Clowns Thru Grace and the Christian Clown Club. Steven enjoyed making people laugh and will be remembered for his kind, loving heart and all those who he touched being a clown.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Novella “Elaine” (Blasdel) Atteberry, whom he married on June 21, 1969, in Centralia, Ill.; his son, Steven and (Laura Jackson) of Collinsville; sisters-in-law, Ruth and (Don) Hennemmann, Cindy and (Ron) Henley; brothers-in-law, Phil and (Karen) Blasdel, Bill and (Marilyn) Blasdel, Scott and (Tricia) Blasdel.
In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his brother Carl Atteberry.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. In celebration of his life, services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Jordan Dollar officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
