Sylvia A. Massman, 79, of Granite City, passed away at 11:51 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 in St. Charles, Mo., with family and friends by her side.
She was born on Nov. 4, 1935 in Rombauer, Mo., the daughter to James Richard and Ida Mae (nee Burkett) Mcintosh.
Sylvia was a member of Pontoon Baptist Church in Pontoon Beach, past volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, past member of Retired Seniors Volunteer program at Belleville College. She loved to play bingo in Madison and Venice and would play cards every chance she got.
Sylvia is survived by one son, Michael Craig Massman Sr. of Glassport, Penn.; grandson, Michael Craig Massman Jr.; sister, Tiny Buchanan of Piedmont, Mo.; and caregiver and good friend, Cathiann Barker of Glen Carbon.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Dawning and Pat Ford; and two brothers, Archie Douglas Mcintosh and the Rev. David Mcintosh, both of St Louis.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Wojstrom Funeral Home in Granite City, with the Rev. Harold Hughes officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Masonic Cemetery in Piedmont, Mo.
