Theodore “Bud” Mitchell Jr., 71, of Litchfield, died Dec. 17, 2014, at his home after a four-month battle with cancer.
He was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Verma Dean (Scrivner) Mitchell Sr.
On Jan. 29, 1966, he married the former Florence Grogan, who survives him. Together they raised four children, Brian S. (Amy) Mitchell of Wichita Falls, Texas, Keith A. (Becky) Mitchell of Springfield, Mo., Angela R. (Marty Bambrough) Hart of Litchfield, Ill., and Chandra D. (Jo) Siar of Gillespie, Ill. Also surviving are sisters, Doris (Jerry) Nolan of Bunker Hill, Wanda Walker, Sandy (Mick) Stoner and brother, Harold (Paula) Mitchell of Brighton; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Francis Carroll; grandson, Scott Allen Mitchell; two brothers-in-law, Joe Carroll and Hudie Walker; and a nephew, Kenny Conlee.
The family will hold a memorial service and dinner from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at Gillespie Civic Center (South Side).
