Timothy “Burnzy” Burns, 51, of Granite City, passed away on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville.
He was born on Nov. 11, 1963, in Granite City, a son to Larry Burns Sr. and Patsy (Hasty) Burns of Piedmont, Mo.
Tim had worked for Petroff Trucking Company as a truck driver for many years. He was a NASCAR fan, and he enjoyed dancing, singing karaoke and playing pool. Tim also enjoyed working on his 1969 Camaro and going to the Village in Pontoon Beach and hanging out with his friends. Tim loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Brewster) Burns; grandparents, Tim and Pauline Burns, Billie and Bill Hasty and Damian Caffrey Sr.; and one uncle, Dennis Caffrey.
In addition to his loving parents, Tim is survived by his best friend and daughter, Brittany (Mark) Gibbear of Granite City; dear daughter, Megan Asher of Belleville; proud grandfather to Anthony Gibbear, Blaze Gibbear, Houston Holmes and Ryder Utnage; brother, Larry (Pam) Burns Jr. of Prescott, Ariz., girlfriend and best friend, Rose Gaddie of Granite City; son he never had, Christopher Gaddie of St. Louis; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Memorial visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City.
In celebration of his life, memorial services will follow at 6 p.m. at Irwin Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Burns family and will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
