Todd Eric Brooks, 42, of Evansville, Ind., and formerly of Granite City, passed away at 12:17 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, in Hartford. He was born Oct. 31, 1972, in Granite City, a son of Betty (Smith) Brooks of Granite City and the late Hoyal Brooks. Todd was a welder and pipefitter for many years and was a proud member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 101 in Belleville. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Blues and Notre Dame and enjoyed his days of fishing, hunting and playing softball. The 1990 graduate of Granite City High School was active with many sports and especially wrestling. He was a dedicated father to his boys, was very athletic through the years and had a great sense of humor. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his entire family and many friends.
In addition to his beloved mother, he is survived by his fiancée, Debra Rexing of Evansville, Ind.; three sons, Brendan Brooks, Alex Brooks and Seth Brooks, all of Granite City; a sister, Cynthia Worthen of Granite City; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Kyong Hui Brooks of Vienna, Austria; a sister and brother-in-law, Carla and Charlie Bates of Somerville, Texas; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and other extended family and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Brooks.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2015. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
