Tracy R. Piper, 88, of Wood River, passed away at 5:55 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 24, 1927, in Sidonia, Tenn., the daughter of Neal and Eva (Stanton) Hearn.
She married Paul L. Piper Dec. 31, 1948, in Sesser, Ill. He preceded her in death in June 11, 1996.
Tracy was an employee of the Olin Corporation for 30-plus years; at her time of retirement she was the supervisor of the Westerner Club. She was a member of the Meadowbrook Assembly of God Church, where she served as their regular piano player. Her church and her family were the center of her life. In her younger years, she had been an avid fisherman and loved to make wonderful desserts for all family functions.
She is survived by a daughter, Vickie Hastings of Wood River; a son and daughter-in-law, Cletus and Johanna Piper of Bethalto; five grandchildren and their spouses, Gayla Boehm, Brian and Muffy Hastings, Samantha and Nathan McNulty, Elizabeth Priest, and Steven and Felicia Runion; 14 great- and great-great-grandchildren; and one niece and nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at the Meadowbrook Assembly of God Church with Pastor Alta Vaughn officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to the Meadowbrook Assembly of God Church.
