Trudy Celine Stilwell, 69, of Edwardsville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at her niece’s home while under the care of BJC Hospice.
She was born on April 10, 1945, in Alton, the daughter of Otto C. and Catherine (Schwartz) Stilwell.
Trudy graduated from SIUE with a bachelor’s degree and was a P.E. Teacher with Edwardsville High School. She also was a coach and started girls’ athletics for the High School. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
She is survived by a special niece, Leigh Ann (Tim) Johnson; several other nieces and nephews, Jeff (Kelly) Tosh, Ed (Patti) Tosh, Andy (Paula) Tosh, Greg (Robin) Nasello, Tim (Felicia) Nasello and Nikki Nasello; as well as several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; three brothers, Richard (Zale) Franke, Paul (JoAnn) Stilwell and Otto C. Stilwell III; a sister, Carol (Charlie) Nasello; a brother-in-law, James Tosh; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Stilwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathleen Tosh; a brother, Ronald Stilwell; and a nephew, Ron Stilwell.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Father John Wykes officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
