Vincent “Vince” Starko, 61, of Granite City passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015 at his home.
He was born Oct. 27, 1954, in Granite City, the son to Mike and Betty (nee: Jackson) Starko. He married Suzanne Holten March 27, 1998, in Edwardsville, although he celebrated their union since 1987. Vince retired in 2014 after serving as the assistant superintendent of Granite City Waste Water Treatment Plant. Vince enjoyed motorcycle riding, wood working and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Starko of Granite City; three sons, Jason Starko of Pekin, Benjamin (April) Starko of Maryville, and Josh (Elizabeth) DuBoise of Rangely, Colo.; four grandchildren, Sonny, Indigo, and Ty and Logan Starko; brother, Michael Starko of Granite City; sister, Elizabeth (John) Lengyel of Granite City; and numerous friends and family who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alex Starko.
The family will hold a celebration of his life from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at the Mexican Honorary Commission in Granite City. Cremation services entrusted to Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory in Granite City. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Arbor Day Foundation or a tree can be planted in his honor.
