Viola M. Flack, 91, of Hartford, passed away at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
Born April 12, 1924, in Frankfort, Ky., she was the daughter of the Rev. William and Elsie (Watchner) Edwards.
She had worked 25 years in the packing department of Owens-Illinois Glass before retiring.
On Nov. 29, 1947, in Coffeen, she married John Louis Flack Jr. He died Nov. 17, 1997.
Surviving are a son, Dennis (Mona) Flack of Hartford; daughter, Barb (Ed) Burlison of Granite City; four grandchildren, DaShella Compton, Tamara (Chris) Ammann, Melissa Flack and Bryan (Dellonie) Tuggle; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Frances Wainscott of Plymouth, Ind., and Stella Kasten of Hillsboro, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; four brothers, Earl, David, Jimmy and Everett Edwards; two sisters, Maudie Adams and Dorothy McAllister; and three siblings in infancy.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens Chapel in Bethalto. The Rev. Bryan Tuggle will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
