William Ewing “Bill” Finn, 88, of Alton, went to Glory at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at the Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home in Edwardsville.
Born in East Alton on Nov. 8, 1926, he was the son of William Thomas and Myrtle Hannah (Martin) Finn.
A World War II Navy veteran, he served as Water Commissioner for the village of East Alton for more than 15 years before retiring. A Shepherd of God, he was a pastor for two General Baptist Churches in Madison County.
On Oct. 10, 1952, in East Alton, he married the former Dorma Eva Jane Montgomery. She survives.
Surviving also are three daughters, Lynne E. Finn and Lisa G. Finn of Edwardsville, and Lori A. (Jim) Berry of Wood River; four grandchildren, Robin E. (Ashely) Brown, Devin L. (Ashely) Reynolds, Dillon E. Reynolds and Lauren N. Reynolds; three great-grandchildren, Taylor K., Sophee and Ellah Brown; a great-great grandson, Cameron; and a sister, Mary Beth Finn of Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald G. Finn.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, May 18. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
