William J. Fabisher, 95, of Granite City, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City surrounded by his family.
William was born Oct. 7, 1919, in Zhaskow, Poland, a son to the late Stanislav and Eva Fabisiak. William was a laborer for Pacific Vegetable Oil for more than 34 years, retiring in 1984. He was a longtime member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City and in his free time he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and being outside. He will be remembered for his unique personality and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by and will be missed by his children, William H. Fabisher of Hayward, Calif., Ann M. Fabisher of Granite City, Joan Fabisher of Granite City, and Christine and (Keith) Helm of Wentzville, Mo.; two wonderful granddaughters, Sarah and Katherine Helm of Wentzville, Mo., and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 4:45 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of his life, services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Road in Granite City, with Fr. Chris Comerford officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Church Choir.
