William R. “Bill” Hines, 72, of Medora, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at his sister’s residence in Brighton.
He was born Aug. 20, 1942, in Virden, the son of the late Russell and Violet (Throne) Hines.
He married the former Betty Wallace on Aug. 16, 1964, and she preceded him in death in 1993.
Survivors include one son, William Douglas Hines of Medora; two grandchildren, Jared Hines and Carly Hines, both of Medora; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marjorie Allen of Caulfield, Mo., Evelyn and Franklin Graham of Brighton, Delores and George Collins of Brighton; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen “Buck” and Rosie Hines of Carlinville, Delbert and Brenda Hines of Medora, Ronald and Terry Hines of Medora, Keith and Julie Hines of Medora; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other extended family and friends.
William was formerly employed at Schnider Seed and was a longtime farmer. He loved hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Kenneth Allen; a nephew, Randy Allen; and a niece, Jamie Hines.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
