William Randolph “Randy” Hartnett, 75, of Jerseyville, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born in Alton on March 19, 1940, the son of the late William Patrick and Maxine (Brickey) Hartnett.
Randy served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-64. He went to work for Greyhound, working overseas in Saudi Arabia until he retired. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Phoenix, Ariz.
He enjoyed traveling and dancing.
Surviving are a son, Timothy (Kim) Hartnett; daughters, Pamela Vegh and Patricia “Boo” (Danny) Tichenal; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Michael R. Sr. (Kim) Hartnett; sister, Phyllis Yingst; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; a brother, Steve; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth, preceded in death.
In accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Visitation and Service will begin at 1 p.m until service time at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Private interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
